This tour takes about 2 1⁄2 hours and the additional cost would be about $42.00 – $45.00.  We may be able to get group tickets.

Hawaiian Islands – Land & Cruise
Date: March 6 – 19, 2025
Cost: To be determined. Waiting for airline pricing.
Join me for a trip to the Hawaiian Islands in March of 2025. Let’s get away from the winter weather and enjoy a
couple weeks in the sun! March is a delightful time to visit Hawaii because the whales are having their babies and we
can often see them breeching from the shore. We will depart on Thursday, March 6, and fly to Hawaii. Arriving at our hotel we will be a block from Waikiki Beach. It will be early evening there and due to the time change, it will be a long day for us. On Friday, we’ll relax – sleep in if you choose – and learn your way around the hotel and surrounding area. Perhaps hanging out on Waikiki Beach will be enjoyable for you. On Saturday afternoon we will head to the ship terminal and board Norwegian Cruise Line’s “Pride of America” for a week long cruise. The cruise will take us to the four major islands where you will have an opportunity to purchase shore excursions of your choice on each island. The meals on the cruise ship and many ship activities will be included for your enjoyment. Returning to Honolulu, we will stay for three additional nights at the same hotel in Waikiki. Since you’ll already be rested and know your way around, you can really enjoy some local activities. I will schedule day trips to Pearl Harbor and a city tour as well as a day to the Polynesian Cultural Center. These are places that I recommend everyone take time to see especially if it is your first trip to Hawaii.  Aloha!

South Africa Presentation!   April 23rd, 2024!
Date: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 by Ed McKenna
For those who had signed up for the trip to South Africa which was cancelled due to Covid, I’ve been investigating
our options for putting that trip back on our schedule. Collette Vacations has a trip that is replacing the one we were
planning. It would be in early February of 2026. Remember that would be summer there.
Our sales representative from Collette will be here on Tuesday, April 23rd, to do a presentation and answer
questions at 10:00 a.m. If you are thinking of taking this trip, this will give you a good overview of what to expect, the
amount of walking, the length of the flight, visas required and allow you to ask any questions you may have. Since this is
a unique type of tour I felt a presentation would be beneficial  in helping you decide if this is the type of trip you’d like to
take. Our sales representative is currently in South Africa and taking lots of pictures in order to show you the types of
lodging you will experience on this trip. Plan to attend if at all possible.

Exploring South Africa           New!

This is a 15-day trip to South Africa including Victoria Falls & Botswana. This particular trip is designed as a small
group exploration with 8 wildlife safaris, 2 National Parks, Cape Winelands, Cape Town, Table Mountain and more.
Flyers have been requested and should be arriving soon.
The cost includes the airflight, transfers to and from the airports, cancellation and insurance. Since this is a more
unique experience, the space available is considered a small group and will be limited to 20 people. Attending the
informational meeting may help you decide if this is the trip for you!  Please see the information above.

Route 66 in April of 2026
Tentative dates: April 13 – May 2, 2026.
Planning is now underway! Route 66 will be 100 years old in 2026. I’ve met with several locations along Route 66 and
they are delighted we are planning to make this trip.
The trip will be taken by motorcoach and will travel through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New
Mexico, Arizona and California. While the route will be the same going west and returning eastbound, we will stop in
different places and see different roadside attractions in each direction. I am planning stops at many iconic locations
including Rialto Square Theatre, Joliet Area Historical Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center, Edinger’s Filling
Station, Route 66 Hall of Fame & Museum, Amarillo Route 66 Historical District, Cadillac Ranch, Midpoint Café, Route
66 Historical Village, Neon Signs, Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, Uranus, Totem Pole Park, Heart of
Route 66 Auto Museum, Pops Soda Ranch, TeePee Curios, New Mexico Rout 66 Museum, the Continental Divide,
Oatman, Williams, Santa Monica Pier. Amd of course the “End of Trail Sign. We will start in Chicago at the Begin
Route 66 Sign. Of course, other stops are being considered as well. There will be some stops as we travel west and
different stops as we head east on the return trip. Hopefully this will keep the trip fresh even though we will be traveling
the same highway.

A few people have suggested getting t-shirts… there are so many options for slogans, pictures, etc. Are there any
creative people who want to submit designs or ideas? A few have been suggested…
1. 100 years of the Mother Road – Route 66
2. Getting our Kicks on Route 66 with Ann’s Adventures
3. Route 66 – 100 Years Celebration
4. 100 Years Celebration – A three week Vacation
5. Route 66 1926 – 2026
Maybe you have another idea… Maybe you are not interested in t-shirts at all. Maybe we should have a t-shirt
committee?

This trip will be in the warmer weather and I’m anticipating that we can pack light with shorts and t-shirts. Maybe jeans
and a sweatshirt/jacket if we encounter cooler weather at night.
I’m envisioning traveling 2 to 4 hours per day, but there is so much to see there will be lots of stops. Once we are in the
more western states, it will be likely we will travel longer on the bus due to the wide open spaces! I’m collecting videos,
music and other items to help pass the miles.
My goal is to keep it fun and relaxing as we explore part of our country! I know a lot of people have expressed interest
in this trip and I want you to know that I am working on it!
It is still a little early for pricing for hotels and some restaurants, but they are starting to promote the 100 year
celebration and I am hopeful that I’ll be able to nail down some pricing in the next few months.
Thanks for considering taking this adventure with me!
