Join me for a trip to Colon, Michigan on Halloween! This year is the 100th anniversary of the death of Harry Houdini. This well-known
magician died at 2.37 p.m. on Halloween 1926. Learn about the Houdini Séance and the purpose behind it. The Houdini Seance is
Magics way of honoring Houdini for his crusade against fraudulent spiritualists and mediums. After the loss of his mother, Houdini
attempted to contact her through various mediums of the era, only to find they were using some of the same methods to fool people
that he was using in his act. Disgusted that mediums would take advantage of people in their hour of grief, he began a crusade to
expose these fake mediums, and thus made many enemies with the spiritualist world of his era.
Let’s explore the world of Magic! This trip will include a graveyard tour, a visit to the museum, a magic show, the séance, and a chance
to learn about this community that brings magicians together to learn new skills and share their love of the art of magic. Lunch will be
included.
Colon is the former home and burial site of several famous magicians including, Harry Blackstone, Sr. (The Great Blackstone).
The United States Congress recognizes Colon as “The Magic Capital of the World”. It is the home of the Abbott Magic Company,
founded in 1934 by magicians Percy Abbott, an Australian and friend of Blackstone’s, and Recil Bordner, originally from Eaton,
Ohio. The company has a local store, showroom, and a factory where magicians’ supplies and new tricks are manufactured. Abbott
Magic is well known among professional stage acts.

Temptations!                          New!
Date: Friday, December 18, 2026
Cost: $165.00 per person
Departure: 4:00 p.m. from the former Clio Kmart
The Temptations are a vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, who released chart-topping singles and albums
when they were artists on the Motown label during the 1960s and 1970s. The group was formed in 1960 as the Elgins. The
founding members are members of two rival groups: Otis Williams and the Distants, which consisted of Otis Williams,
Elbridge “Al” Bryant and Melvin Franklin; and two members of the Primes, Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams. Bryant
was replaced by David Ruffin in 1964. Ruffin was the lead vocalist on some of their biggest hits, such as “My Girl” and
“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”. Although Smokey Robinson wrote and produced most of the Temps’ first wave of hits, with
“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, his creative reign on the group ceded to Norman Whitfield. The group would have their
second change in the line-up in 1968, when David Ruffin was replaced by Dennis Edwards. From there, he would help the
group record more hits such as “Cloud Nine” and “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World Is Today)”. After the
departures of Eddie Kendricks and Paul WIlliams in 1971, the group’s line-up changed frequently. Over the course of
their career, they would have four #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and 14 #1 songs on the R&B charts. In 1989, the
group were inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and three of their songs were listed on the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame’s Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. They were also ranked #68 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists
of All time. The Temptations are three-time Grammy Award winners, becoming the first Motown act to win a Grammy.
Otis Williams is the only original member of the group still performing.

Day Tour from Copenhagen: Roskilde Discovery

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Embark on the perfect day trip from Copenhagen to nearby picturesque Roskilde, the former capital of Denmark.
Start your exploration by visiting the Viking Ship Museum on the banks of the Roskilde Fjord. 1000 years ago, these early
settlers of Scandinavia sailed along the shores of Europe, up rivers and across the open sea in an era that is now
known as the Viking Age. Their specially crafted ships made these journeys possible, and the museum focuses on five
original Viking ships that were excavated from the neighboring fjord over 60 years ago. The originals are now
exhibited in the museum: learn about the challenges the archeologists were facing and see the reconstructions of the
wrecks in the sailing harbor. After the museum, take time to stroll the colorful pedestrian main street and browse the
boutiques and cafes. In the afternoon, journey through 800 years of Danish royal history by visiting the UNESCO World
Heritage Listed Roskilde Cathedral. With its origins dating back to the 12th century, its many unique royal chapels
reflect the changing European architectural styles and serve as the final resting places for 39 monarchs so far. Return to
Copenhagen in the late afternoon.

Thinking ahead to 2030!          New Info!

Preparations are already underway for the next Passion Play in the tiny Bavarian hamlet of Oberammergau. The
shows in 2030 may seem distant but the excitement is already building for the next production. Demand for tickets
is sure to be high and space on tours at a premium.
In past years Collette brought thousands of guests to Germany to enjoy this once-in-a-decade event. Building on
years of experience, their team is hard at work developing new tours that showcase must-see European destinations
and the epic Passion Play that depicts the life and death of Jesus.
It began all the way back in 1633. Oberammergau was suffering from the Bubonic Plague. The surviving villagers
appealed for Divine intervention to save their families. They vowed that if God were to spare them, they would perform a
Passion Play every ten years. They say not a single person fell victim to the Plague after that. Keeping their promise, the
people of Oberammergau performed the first play in 1634 and have continued to do so throughout the centuries.
Today, many of Oberammergau’s residents still take part in this powerful work of art featuring dramatic performances,
beautiful music and choral accompaniment.
The residents of Oberammergau will again perform The Passion Play in 2030. Collette will be there, sharing in the
magnificence of this performance with several itineraries that showcase the charm and beauty of central Europe.
Although the play is in German, you won’t have an issue understanding what is happening during the play, and the
music is powerful. The music was written back in 1779 by Rochus Dedler. The music has influences of Mozart and
Haydn. Some have compared it to being as romantic and expressive as pieces by Schubert or Weber. Although there
have been slight adaptations over the years, it is still based on the original score. There is both an orchestra made up of
60 musicians and a choir which help bring all of the emotion and scenes to life.
The Passion Play operates for 5 months from May through October. Days of performances are every day
except for Mondays and Wednesdays. The play runs for 5 – 5 1⁄2 hours, starting at 2:30 pm and ending at 10:30 pm every
day. It is only one play each day with an intermission of 3 hours for dinner.
I am looking at the trip that would include a river cruise on the Danube as well as the Passion Play in September of 2030.
Would you like to be there? Start thinking about this. The dates and prices won’t be set until fall of 2027, but then we’ll
only have about 3 months to get deposits collected to reserve the seats. Even though the trip is 3 years away, this
once in a decade event apparently sells out very quickly.
Insurance will be included!
