Where were you in 1968 when the Tigers won the World Series? Take a step back in time and celebrate the great American pastime of baseball at the Detroit Historical Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts. The Year of the Tiger: 1968 will be at the Detroit Historical Society. “The aftershocks of widespread social unrest, the untimely assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., the mounting Vietnam War, among other iconic events cemented 1968 as the “year that changed the nation.” In Detroit, 1968 is often characterized as the “comeback season” for the Detroit Tigers and a pivot in the tenor of the city. Against the backdrop of turbulent times –
locally, nationally and internationally – the Detroit Tigers’ ascendance to the 1968 World Series championship signaled the “Year of the Tiger” and galvanized Detroiters to come together across their differences to celebrate this momentous occasion. The exhibit weaves together stories about the players, the manager, the stadium and the events that paved a path toward a World Series victory and ultimately changed the mood and spirit of the city.”
Play Ball! Baseball at the DIA, will feature items from the Michigan-based E. Powell Miller collection and the Detroit Institute of Arts. “This exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Detroit Tigers’ 1968 World Series victory with memorabilia, baseball cards and collectibles. Visitors will also experience the extraordinary opportunity to view more than 500 baseball cards known as the “T206 White Border Set.” Miller’s collection of these vintage cards is noted for its rarity and superlative condition, and includes a Joe Doyle “error card” as well as the coveted and rare Honus Wagner card.”

For Your Information…

Regarding Passports & Enhanced Driver’s License
Passports are available at the Clio Post Office. You need your birth certificate with a raised seal to apply for one. They are good for ten years. The post office can take your picture or you can get a passport photo taken at another location such as Walgreen’s or Rite Aid.
An Enhanced Driver License is good for traveling to Canada, however, they are only good for four years and must be renewed when you renew your driver license. It can be obtained at a Secretary of State Office with your birth certificate. It is good for those who are driving back into the US and is not accepted for airport travel.
I have posted here the latest information from the Michigan.gov website regarding passports and enhanced drivers’ license.
“At this time, only a government-issued photo ID is required for domestic air travel. Either a standard or enhanced license or state ID card is acceptable. However, the Transportation and Security Administration may revise its policy to respond to a changing security situation. You should always review the most recent TSA domestic travel requirements before heading to the airport.
If you are flying internationally, even within the Western Hemisphere, you must have a passport (or another valid travel document if not a U.S. citizen). An enhanced card is not acceptable for international air travel.

The link is: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-48296_71056—F,00.html”
This means that flying into or out of Canada requires a passport and driving/riding in a vehicle into or out of Canada an enhanced driver’s license can be used. I hope this clarifies this situation for those who have asked.
