The historic village is easy to get around and a stop at the general store can bring back many memories.
Celebrate the rich tradition of quilting at northwest Ohio’s premier quilting event! With hundreds of quilts on display, the annual Quilt Show at Sauder Village is always a kaleidoscope of color and creativity! This will be a 21 day trip. If we are going to fly that far, we might as well see as much as possible! We would visit both Australia and New Zealand. There would be stops in the Outback, the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Melbourne, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Sydney, Christchurch, Franz Josef Glacier Region, Mt Cook National Park, Queenstown, Milford Sound and more… The trip would include insurance, airfare, 29 meals, and more.
This trip is amazing and if you’d like to experience “down under” this is an excellent opportunity to do it! It is a very long flight, but we will sleep part of the time and eat! We will cross the International dateline and will be skipping a day ahead. (Of course, it is reclaimed as we return). This trip requires a passport valid for at least six months beyond the return date! Detailed flyers are now available!
A deposit of $885 per person is due upon reservation. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Reservations made after the deposit due date of August 06, 2018 are based upon availability. Final payment due by December 12, 2018. Deposits are refundable up until August 13, 2018.

Other Possibilities for 2019….
Yes! I am well aware that “Hamilton” will be coming to Michigan in 2018-2019! I am watching for information and will definitely get tickets!
There was a lot of discussion about offering the Pacific Northwest Trip in August of 2019. We would visit Washington, Oregon and Northern California.
Other suggestions included Rhode Island and Cape Cod area on the east coast in the fall. I did get some requests for Hawaii and Ireland and I’d be happy to offer those trips again in the next couple of years. Thanks for your many suggestions!
Other trips I am working on include some boat rides during the summer months, mystery trips, one day summer outings and other adventures!

Passion Play Tours
Dates: August 24th – September 5th, 2020
Cost: $7549.00 per person double occupancy
There is an early booking discount of $50.00. Any bookings after 2-12-18 may have additional cost. This price includes Insurance ($500.00 value), round trip air from Detroit, 13 days, 19 meals, airport and hotel transfers.
We are booked for the trip called “Romantic Roads of Germany and Oberammergau” which includes some of the country’s most iconic cities such as Berlin, Lubeck, Hamburg, Bremen, Hamelin, Kassel, Marburg, Wurzburg, and of course, Oberammergau. This 12 day trip will take us through many areas that were settings for Grimm’s Fairy Tales and we’ll see many castles.
The Passion Play began all the way back in 1633. Oberammergau was suffering from the Bubonic Plague. The surviving villagers appealed for Divine intervention to save their families. They vowed that if God were to spare them, they would perform a Passion Play every ten years. They say not a single person fell victim to the Plague after that. Keeping their promise, the people of Oberammergau performed the first play in 1634 and have continued to do so throughout the centuries. Today, many of Oberammergau’s residents still take part in this powerful work of art featuring dramatic performances, beautiful music and choral accompaniment.
Although the play is in German, you won’t have an issue understanding what is happening during the play, and the music is powerful. The music was written back in 1779 by Rochus Dedler. The music has influences of Mozart and Haydn. Some have compared it to being as romantic and expressive as pieces by Schubert or Weber. Although there have been slight adaptations over the years, it is still based on the original score. There is both an orchestra made up of 60 musicians and a choir which help bring all of the emotion and scenes to life.
The Passion Play operates for 5 months from May through October. Days of performances are every day except for Mondays and Wednesdays. The play runs for 5 – 5 ½ hours, starting at 2:30 pm and ending at 10:30 pm every day. It is only one play each day with an intermission of 3 hours for dinner.

Why Am I Promoting Trips With no Dates and Prices?
I am basically trying to let you know what I am thinking for the entire year so that you can choose which trip you’d like to sign up for and not have regrets that something you’d like to do is offered after you committed to an earlier trip.

For Your Information…

Regarding Passports & Enhanced Driver’s License
Passports are available at the Clio Post Office. You need your birth certificate with a raised seal to apply for one. They are good for ten years. The post office can take your picture or you can get a passport photo taken at another location such as Walgreen’s or Rite Aid.
An Enhanced Driver License is good for traveling to Canada, however, they are only good for four years and must be renewed when you renew your driver license. It can be obtained at a Secretary of State Office with your birth certificate. It is good for those who are driving back into the US and is not accepted for airport travel.
I have posted here the latest information from the Michigan.gov website regarding passports and enhanced drivers’ license.
“At this time, only a government-issued photo ID is required for domestic air travel. Either a standard or enhanced license or state ID card is acceptable. However, the Transportation and Security Administration may revise its policy to respond to a changing security situation. You should always review the most recent TSA domestic travel requirements before heading to the airport.
If you are flying internationally, even within the Western Hemisphere, you must have a passport (or another valid travel document if not a U.S. citizen). An enhanced card is not acceptable for international air travel.

The link is: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-48296_71056—F,00.html”
This means that flying into or out of Canada requires a passport and driving/riding in a vehicle into or out of Canada an enhanced driver’s license can be used. I hope this clarifies this situation for those who have asked.
